2025 Telethon

This year, our annual telethon be running from Tuesday 8th to Sunday 20th July and we can’t wait to connect with our alumni, parents and friends over the two-week period.

The telethon gives us a great opportunity to speak to you and update you on what’s happening at the school. For our alumni in particular, it’s a chance to share your fond memories of the school with our Upper Sixth callers*, who really do like to hear of your stories and how much of an impact KES made on you. It also offers our wider school community the chance to find out more about our Assisted Places Fund and the transformational impact this makes each year.

Since 2014, our annual telethon has been a vital element in fundraising for our Assisted Places Fund and has opened doors for many able girls to a KE education, regardless of the financial situation of their families.

We are most grateful for the support we receive during the telethon. Regular gifts will enable sustained funding and will ensure that we can continue to provide Assisted Places. By giving to the Assisted Places Fund, you will be making a difference.

Find out more about Assisted Places here

Thank you for considering giving to our Assisted Places Fund. We sincerely hope you enjoy the call**

*Our callers are Upper Sixth pupils who have been recruited through an interview process. We pay for their time throughout the two-week period, and they receive comprehensive training prior to making their first calls. Not only do they gain new and develop existing transferable skills, but they also learn more about KES, its history and how the Assisted Places Fund continues to transform the lives of pupils and those around them. The new transferable skills they learn enhance their CVs and the timing of the telethon also ensures they have plenty of time over the summer before embarking on their next challenge.

**If you are unavailable during this period or would prefer not to receive a call this year, please let us know by emailing development@keschools.org.uk by Thursday 3rd July.

Telephone Campaign 2025 KES policy

Our sixth form callers from KES

Charlie – During my time at KES, I have enjoyed representing the First XV Rugby and First XI cricket teams, even playing at Twickenham in a National Final with the former. I have also developed a strong interest in languages, particularly Spanish. I studied both French and Spanish as part of my IB diploma.

I am very excited to begin the Telethon as it is an amazing opportunity to raise some money for Assisted Places, a vital part of the school community. I am also looking forward to having conversations with the Old Edwardians.

Edward – During my time at KES, what stood out to me was the ambitious atmosphere which always pushed me to do more, think more, and see more. I was also to reap the benefits of this atmosphere often; I regularly attended philosophy societies such as Agora and Metascholen, where I could feel appreciated for being curious and reflective.

I also had the chance to represent the school on an international level through the rugby tour to South Africa, which was an unforgettable experience that cultivated comradery and discipline. There are lessons I’ve learned at KES which I’m almost certain I would have missed if I were at any other school, and I’m sure that any alumni would concur.

Elliot – At KES I have been heavily involved in the sporting life of the school. I have captained the first team cricket side and was vice captain of the first team rugby team. I’ve also helped to set up the current history society which is another of my key interests. Finally, I’ve taken on the responsibility of being a house captain for Evans which is another important part of the school life.

My favourite memories of being at KES are the sports tours I was lucky enough to go on.  I can’t wait to engage with our old Ed’s over the phone and share our experiences of KES together.

Hari – Some of my favourite subjects at school are English, History and Sports Science, and I will hopefully be studying English and History at university in the near future. One of my favourite KES memories is touring South Africa with the rugby team and winning our match against KES Johannesburg with the final kick of the game.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know more KES alumni and hearing some great stories from your time at the school.

Kai – Having spent 7 years at King Edward’s Birmingham, I have many fond memories from all aspects of school life. In my earlier years, music played a large role in my development and hobbies, playing clarinet and saxophone in the various bands that the school offers.

As I moved through the school, sport began to replace music, and I am proud to have represented the school in age group water polo, as well as first team cricket and rugby. Rugby, exams, and senior prefect duties dominated my final year, with my favourite memory being playing at Twickenham in the National Vase Final.

Thomas – I’ve really enjoyed my time here at KES, especially being part of the 1st XV rugby team and having the honour to play at Twickenham with some of my closest friends. Some of my best memories have come from time spent on South Field playing various sports or enjoying downtime in the form rooms with my peers.

I’m looking forward to the telethon as a chance to give back to the school and connect with Old Eds about their time here too.
