Beyond Traditional Sectors

Could you be the next Old Edwardian to share your unconventional career journey?

If you are interested in unique careers – or have a career that is a bit out of the ordinary – this is the space for you.

A Levels: French, Italian and History

At KES: Before 2000

Current role: International Business Consultant, Author and Speaker

At 80 years old, Sergio still lives by a philosophy that has shaped every stage of his life:

“Do what you love and the money and the happiness will follow!”

Since leaving KES, Sergio has built an extraordinary career spanning law, education, business, universities, publishing and international speaking. Along the way he has authored books, worked as a motivational speaker and inspired countless people to pursue lives filled with purpose and meaning.

Today, he spends much of his time supporting young people, visiting prisons, helping those in palliative care and working on social entrepreneurship projects, while also enjoying time with his family.

One of Sergio’s defining beliefs is that life is about making a difference through example.

“The best thing in what I have always done is to encourage other people to become rebels with a purpose.”

His KES years were not always easy. During his final years at school, the breakdown of his parents’ marriage had a profound impact on him. Yet he recalls the kindness and support he received from teachers and classmates during that difficult period.

Sport became an important outlet, particularly rugby. One memorable match stands out above all others, when he scored every point in a famous victory against a long-standing rival and was later invited to lead the First XV in front of the whole school.

“I’ll never forget that moment or the teammates I played with.”

Throughout a career that has spanned multiple countries and professions, Sergio has never been afraid to reinvent himself.

His message to current pupils remains as energetic as ever:

“Your attitude will determine your altitude!”

And perhaps his most enduring advice:

"You will never discover new oceans unless you first have the courage to leave the shore."

Sergio wears a blue button-up shirt and glasses and smiles directly at the camera
