OE knighted in New Year Honours

02 January 2012

Paul Ruddock (1976) has been knighted in the New Year Honours list.  Paul received the knighthood for his services to the arts and philanthropy.  Paul has been a Trustee of the Victoria & Albert museum since 2002 and Chairman since 2007.  During his time he has helped to raise over £120 million for the musuem, which allowed the museum to revamp the Medieval and Renaissance galleries.  Last year Paul was also elected as a Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum in New York - one of only a few Trustees to have ever been chosen from outside of the United States.  Paul is also Chairman of the Gilbert Trust for the Arts, a Trustee of the Burlington Magazine Foundation and a member of the International Advisory Board of the Walters Art Museum.

Of course Paul has also been very supportive of the arts at King Edward's through his generous donation towards the new Paul and Jill Ruddock Performing Arts Centre which will open in April.  Paul had also supported a range of other charities including AfriKids, the British Museum and the Walters Art Museum.

Paul's contemporary, Andrew Hudson (1976), was also named in the New Year Honour list, receiving a CB - Companion of the Order of the Bath.  Until recently Andrew was the Director General of Public Services at HM Treasury.
