Andy Street receives president's award

05 May 2016

Andy Street (1981), who has become one of Greater Birmingham's most influential figures, was presented with the President's Award at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce annual dinner on Thursday, 28 April 2016.

Andy, Chair of Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) and Managing Director of the John Lewis Partnership, received the award from Greg Lowson, president of the Chamber.

Mr Lowson said: "We have probably the best LEP in the country, and Andy can take significant credit for that success. His role there and in everything he does behind the scenes to promote this city and region is the best example I can think of 'putting something back' and 'going the extra mile'."

At the GBSLEP, Andy leads a body tasked with driving economic growth in the region. He is also vice-chairman of Performances Birmingham Limited, which is responsible for running the city's Symphony and Town Halls, and is a member of the Prime Minister's Business Advisory Group.

In June 2015 Andy was awarded a CBE for services to the economy, in his roles as Managing Director of John Lewis and as Chair of GBSLEP.
