Bumper year for boys sitting entrance exam

King Edward's SchoolA record number of boys will be sitting the entrance exam to King Edward's School this Saturday. 820 boys from over 300 junior schools will attend in the hope of gaining one of the 125 places on offer. This represents a 17% increase on 2013, the previous record, and 37% increase on 2012.

First World War memorabilia appeal

Pte SandersThe school will be holding an exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. We are appealing for memorabilia of Old Edwardians who were involved and would love to hear from you if you are able to help. Read more about the exhibition, memorabilia already donated, and how to contribute

The next OE Gazette is due out in March and will contain a selection of OE news. For inclusion in the Gazette, complete the online news form by Friday, 31 January 2014. 

Cambridge lecture and drinks

Downing CollegeThe speaker for this annual event is Professor Geoffrey Grimmett (1968) who will give a talk titled: The unreasonable effectiveness of the square root of -1. The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 18 March 2014. Find out more and book online.

New Year's Honours

Congratulations to John Ruddick (1961) who has been awarded an MBE for services to jazz and Paul Griffiths (1965) who has received an OBE for services to Music Literature and Composition.
