10 December 2014

Ken Smith (1936) has been presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Birmingham Post Business Awards 2014.

Over 750 business people attended the Awards evening at the ICC in Birmingham  on Wednesday, 26 November 2014, to celebrate the city's companies and individual achievements.

Ken Smith has been Chairman of EH Smith Builders Merchants since 1959, when he took over the reins following the death of his father Howard, who founded the company back in 1922. After almost 80 years, at the age of 96, Mr Smith is still driving himself to work five days a week, putting in a full working week.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognised Mr Smith's long term commitment to his company and provided an opportunity to mark and celebrate an inspirational entrepreneur.
